So it's been a while since I've updated. I've got a good excuse though, I'm busy busy busy with the family!! Chris and I took the girls to Idaho this past week. We went from Saturday til Wednesday and I would say that overall it was a great trip. Kellyn did fairly well on the long 7 hour drive and so did Claire. I did have to squish between both car seats though to feed Kellyn and then we stopped to burp and change diapers! Luckily she did sleep most of the time. Crying was minimal. Claire napped, looked outside, or watched a movie on the iPad! It was so nice visiting our family. I wish I could have seen more friends but the trip was short and we'll go back sooner then later hopefully.
Kellyn is 11 weeks old today. It is flying by. She is still colicky at times but it's getting better. I would say it's more normal crying for any baby then full on crying for long periods of time. It makes me happy to know it's improving and she's getting older. She smiles so much now and coos. It's so fun hearing her make noises and know that she's trying to tell me something. She likes to sit up in her little bumbo type chair. She has such a strong little neck, she amazes me each day. She tried to pull her head and shoulders up when she was lying in the rock n play yesterday. She's so little still and it seems a bit early for her to be doing that. She loves her play mat and loves to look at the lights flashing. She also loves smiling at her big sister. I can't wait to see my girls play together when Kellyn is able too. I look forward to hearing their little conversations and see how their imaginations work while they play.
Since we got back from Idaho it was time to teach Claire to use the potty. She was showing interest before we left on our trip but I wanted to wait since I knew we would be too busy to focus on using the potty. Yesterday was her first full day and she did AMAZING! I am totally going to brag about her right now because I'm so proud of my baby girl. To make things easier she has been completely naked. That way nothing needs to be washed (well except the carpet) if there is an accident and she will learn to hold it for longer over time for when she is wearing clothes. For easy access her potty has been in the living room since that is where we spend most of our day either playing with her toys or watching cartoons. I found a Sesame Street potty training coloring book at Old Navy (of all places) and it had a potty chart with reward stickers. It's a total hit with her and she gets so excited to put a sticker on her chart. Her first day she only had one accident and I lucked out with it being in the kitchen. Easy clean up for me. Today is day two and she hasn't had an accident yet. She is still very excited and proud of herself and that makes me so happy. She will nap with a pull up on for a few days before we try it without and she will still wear a pull up at night for quite some time. I don't know if she's able to hold it through the whole night yet. Or maybe she'll start waking up to use the potty. We'll see, this is all so new to all of us. I'm just so proud of her.
I didn't work out at all on our vacation (no surprise there) and so it's time to get back to the gym. I'm planning on going this afternoon after Claire has a nap. I am looking forward to running for a while and I'm hoping to keep running for a little bit longer each time. I got on the scale this morning and I am down to 138! I am so happy about that. Things have definitely slowed down in the losing weight department but that's expected. I am not worrying so much about the number, I just want my belly flab to be under control and to feel really good about myself. I also want to feel more comfortable in jeans.
Well it's time to wrap this up. I need to finish up my coffee and probably drink a second cup since I've been awake since 5:30am this morning. Claire woke me up crying because she was uncovered and cold. After I covered her I layed back down in bed until Kellyn woke up a little after 6am.....too early. haha It's a rainy day at home with my girlies. I can't wait until my love is back home with us, I miss him!
